About our Clubhouse

The Lambs have met in a dozen different Manhattan locations since 1874. We currently have a floor at 3 West 51st Street, our home since 1976. This is the 3 West Club historic 1935 building with rooftop solarium. Our private floor has three rehearsal rooms, three Steinway pianos, a pool table, a writer’s nook, our legendary art collection, comfy chairs, free high-speed WiFi, library, script library, and 24/7 access. We share the building with other clubs, so our use of other floors and the bar-restaurant is shared space.

Dress Code

All Members shall wear proper (business casual) attire while in the Clubhouse. No shorts, t-shirts, tank-tops, baseball caps, or flip-flops at any time. Exceptions may be made upon request to the House Committee. It is the responsibility of the Member to inform Guests of the Club rules and dress code.

  • Lambs’ Performance Space

    • A black-box style performance space with a Steinway baby grand piano and theatrical lighting. Activities held here include play and musical readings and performances, film screenings, lectures, recitals, author talks, and more. There is space for 65 folding chairs. We use all of this space and the adjoining rooms for Club activities such as the lively monthly Lambs’ Frolic.

  • Jim & Gerry Ruth Rehearsal Room

    • A private rehearsal room with a Steinway piano. A professional room that can comfortably accommodate a half-dozen people and a pianist. Members book time to reserve the room with our online reservation system on a first-come, first-serve basis. The room is decorated with theatrical memorabilia going back to the 18th century. Gerry and Jim Ruth were beloved Lambs who devoted countless hours supporting the Club.

  • Joyce Randolph Meeting Room

    • The perfect spot for a meeting around a boardroom-style table that can accommodate 12 people. The carved wood is attributed to Lamb Stanford White (however, the Club attributes everything old to White). The room also holds a library of hundreds of playscripts. It has a Steinway upright piano. Joyce Randolph is a longtime Lamb, notable for her starring role on the classic 1950s sitcom The Honeymooners as Trixie. Her late husband, Richard L. Charles, was a shepherd of The Lambs. Joyce served the Club for many years on the Lambs’ Council.

  • W.C. Fields Billiards Room

    • Our billiards room boasts a vintage 1927 pool table that legend has it, was once put to good use by Lamb W.C. Fields. So we nickname this room for him. It has cozy couches and a relaxed atmosphere, for serious and not-serious pool sharks. This room also has a wide collection of original artwork painted by Lambs Howard Chandler Christy and James Montgomery Flagg. The artists’ works of nudes are favorites of The Lambs.

  • Writers Nook

    • Will you be continuing the trend of famous writers from The Lambs? Names such as Moss Hart, George S. Kaufman, Ring Lardner, Cornelia Otis Skinner, or the co-founder of The New Yorker, Harold Ross? We have a nice big desk with no distractions for members to sit and write, write, write. With high-speed WiFi and a comfy chair, and our policy of 24/7 access, why not write a novel at midnight?

  • Research Library

    • The Lambs has a collection of books going back to the 19th Century. The Lambs Foundation owns and manages our collection of thousands of documents, letters, photographs, and pieces of show business history. The Club has an Archives Team that is currently cataloging and organizing the vast collection, which is similar in size and scope to a modest historical society.

  • Solarium

    • On the 9th floor is the Solarium which we share with the 3 West Club. The Lambs uses it for special occasions and summertime events. It is 45 feet x 19 feet with a 900 square feet of interior space. The stunning city views are not to be missed! St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, and Radio City Music Hall.

  • Roof Terrace

    • The rooftop terrace is our social spot we spend much time on. Located on the 9th floor, it has sweeping views of Rockefeller Center and the city. At dusk, it is magical.

  • Pub

    • Renovated and restored in 2023, the pub on Floor 2M Is shared with other old clubs in the building. The bartenders remember your names and your favorite drinks here. It is open Monday-Friday until 11:00 p.m. and is perfect for meeting a friend, or grabbing a drink or bite "to go" to bring up to our 5th Floor Clubhouse. Members may charge their orders to their club accounts and billed monthly, or pay by credit card. Note: Unlike other city clubs or country clubs, The Lambs has no "minimum spend" at the pub. The PubOn the second floor is the bar and restaurant, open Monday to Friday. Purchases may be charged to member house accounts and billed monthly; credit cards are also accepted. Our friendly staff always knows how we like our drinks, how often, and when!

  • Restaurant

    • The dining and bar area are managed by the 3 West Club that we share the space with. Lambs members have charge accounts to bill their food and drinks to. The restaurant serves traditional American fare and is open Monday-Friday for lunch and dinner. The pub is open weeknights until 11:00 p.m.

  • Hotel Rooms

    • There are more than 25 hotel rooms of various sizes on floors 6 to 8. Room 506 is the accommodation available on The Lambs’ 5th Floor. Members of The Lambs may use the 3 West Club hotel accommodations at member rates. Rooms are only permitted for the member or spouse; the privileges do not extend to friends, family, or non-members.

All rooms are non-smoking and include free WiFi. Room fees are only paid with a major credit card. Members get a rate discount (plus appropriate taxes).
