Sir John Hare was the successful and reputable manager of the old Globe Theater, the Court Theater as well as the Garrick Theater, and was knighted in 1907. SOURCE. The Lambs dining club was put together in London in the spring of 1869 by Henry Montague’s friend, John Hare, who was voted its first Shepherd (in London) and, with much truth and humour, was labeled “The Despot.” Source: Lewis J.
